Laboratory

We are committed to ensuring patient safety through rigorous monitoring, reporting, and management of safety data related to our medications.  In addition, we recognize the threat posed by counterfeit or adulterated medicines and work with law enforcement to detect and prevent such activities. We aim to provide safe, effective, and high-quality medicines while ensuring that patient safety remains at the forefront of our operations.

ESG Reporting

We standardize our environmental, social, and governance (ESG) data collection, measurement, and reporting using globally recognized frameworks. These frameworks ensure consistency, transparency, and comparability for investors, regulators, and other stakeholders. The ESG reporting frameworks we follow are:

  • United Nations Global Compact (UNGC)
Principles covering human rights, labor standards, environmental protection, and anti‑corruption.

  • United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs)
Global goals that guide how our ESG priorities contribute to societal and environmental outcomes.

  • Global Reporting Initiative (GRI)
    Standards for comprehensive ESG disclosure.

  • Sustainability Accounting Standards Board (SASB)
Industry‑specific standards focused on financially material ESG topics.

  • CDP
Environmental disclosure related to climate, water, and forests.

  • Task Force on Climate‑Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD)
Guidance for reporting climate‑related risks, opportunities, and governance.

Governing ESG at Gilead

The Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee of the Board of Directors has primary oversight of our ESG program as part of its charter. Our full Board exercises risk oversight directly and through its committees. The committees, as well as management, provide regular updates on delegated areas of oversight, specific material risks and legal developments. To further demonstrate Gilead’s robust oversight of our corporate responsibility and sustainability efforts, the majority of our Board members have ESG experience. Our management-led Corporate Responsibility Committee meets quarterly and is tasked with managing ESG issues and, in consultation with senior leadership, driving forward our ESG goals and strategy. All of our ESG activities are guided by the Gilead Code of Ethics, which focuses on the most important principles and expectations about how we should work with our customers, third parties, business partners and each other.
