GVET's Mission

The Gilead Veterans Engagement Team’s (GVET) mission is to:

  • Recognize, support and advocate for the interests of veterans, active-duty military, and their families within Gilead
  • Provide employment opportunities, professional development, team building and service opportunities for our communities
I began working at Gilead in 2013 and later joined GVET to help support the mission of ‘serving those who served.’ This mission aligns with my values of inclusivity and helping our warriors, their families and communities. The power of our storytelling and group discussions, enhanced by the diversity and professionalism of our cadre of instructors, is inspiring. GVET's focus is on giving back and demonstrating how the diversity of our membership, which mirrors the armed forces, is our strength.

GVET Impact

Veteran Hiring at Kite

In collaboration with GVET, Kite, a Gilead Company, established a veteran hiring program in 2022. Since then, Kite has hired more than 20 veterans. GVET’s partnership has helped Gilead and Kite leverage the unique skillsets of veterans.

Leadership Training

GVET members engage in workshops and classes, including the Gettysburg Leadership Training Workshop in Pennsylvania, where they learned how to become more impactful and inclusive leaders. The training focused on five key skills: communication, collaboration, conflict resolution, building and restoring trust and time management. The picture above includes several Gilead employees at the site of the 1863 Battle of Gettysburg.

Holiday Commemoration

GVET leads the recognition at Gilead of holidays honoring military service and sacrifice including Veterans Day and Memorial Day.
