GVET's Mission

The Gilead Veterans Engagement Team’s (GVET) mission is to:

  • Recognize, support and advocate for the interests of veterans, active-duty military, and their families within Gilead
  • Provide employment opportunities, professional development, team building and service opportunities for our communities
Being part of GVET has been an incredible source of both personal and professional growth for me. Working alongside other ERGs has broadened my perspective, showing how much stronger and more creative we can be when we bring diverse voices together. Coordinating events like Women’s Veterans Day has stretched my skills in logistics and planning, while also reminding me of the teamwork and discipline I learned in the Army.

As a dual-military family, an Army veteran myself and the spouse of a retired soldier, this work feels like a natural continuation of the thread of service that runs through my life. GVET gives me the opportunity to honor that legacy not only outside of work, but also within my workplace. It allows me to serve, connect, and build community during the workday, which is both rare and deeply meaningful.

GVET Impact

Professional Development & Recruitment

GVET supported talent attraction and retention by collaborating across ERGs to strengthen mentorship and recruitment pipelines. GVET also hosted development workshops and panels featuring senior leaders and veteran voices to support professional advancement.

Events & Engagement

GVET engaged employees through signature events like Women Veterans Day and Veterans Day, supported key observances including Memorial Day, and built community through cross-ERG collaboration and local chapter initiatives.

Community Giving & Philanthropy

During the Month of Giving, GVET raised over $50,000 to support organizations that provide housing, career training, and emergency aid to veterans and their families. GVET also partnered with a nonprofit to fulfill dreams for terminally ill veterans and hosted a virtual 5K, raising over $13,000 to support a separate cause benefiting the veteran community.
